Oh, hello there. I’m Roxy. I’m 23 years old, and appear to be an Amish Standardbred, and yes, before you ask; I already know what everyone else in the pasture is doing. At all times. Somebody around here has to stay informed. I was one of the original 15 horses pulled from the auction kill pen back in 2019, and these days I’ve fully settled into my role as the boss mare. The herd runs smoother when everybody listens to me, honestly. And if one of my friends gets taken out of the pen? Oh, you’ll hear about it. I don’t appreciate sudden changes in management around here. Now, despite my strong opinions, I’m absolutely a pocket horse. If you stop by for a visit, there’s a very good chance I’ll be right in your business seeing what you’re up to. And if you happen to know the magic of a good booty scratch? Well, now we’re really getting somewhere. I’ve got expensive taste when it comes to food, though. I’m not exactly what humans call an “easy keeper.” I’m picky about my grain, picky about my supplements, and frankly, if the menu isn’t up to my standards, I reserve the right to turn my nose up at it dramatically. A lady has preferences. It’s believed I spent part of my life as an Amish buggy horse, and after all those years of work, I’ve more than earned my retirement. These days I’m perfectly content supervising the property, keeping tabs on the herd, and making sure the humans stay on schedule with snacks and scratches. I’m sanctuaried here at the rescue, so this is my forever home. Sponsorship isn’t available, but neighborhood updates and unsolicited opinions are included free of charge.
