Kai
Kai came to Lucky Clover in Summer 2022 following a desperate phone call from the sheriff's department. Through no fault of his own, he was left to fend for himself in a barn stall and very small turnout area. To access food he was forced to walk through the stall which was piled with so much manure a human could not stand upright in the space. His care had been neglected for quite some time. Sadly, the equine Kai shared this space with was not rescued that day. Their remains were found in this space as well. The trauma Kai experienced cannot be articulated. He bears the evidence of trying to comfort himself by banging his head between the stall entrance, he will forever have dents in his muscle fascia here. This horse has a huge heart. Despite his agonizing experiences; Kai is a good friend to all of the horses he meets and has been worked with slowly using numerous modalities to help him heal his emotional scars. His work is far from over, but he has a safe space to continue this work for as long as it takes.
