My name is Aries, and I’m a 21-year-old Paint mare. Even though I know I don’t look like the typical Paint. I’m almost entirely black, except for one little white sock that gives me a bit of flair. I came to the rescue in April of 2022, after being seized by the Jefferson County Sheriff. I arrived with my sister, Maisie, and we’ve both been settling into a much safer, more comfortable life. In the herd, I tend to hold my own, I am on the higher end of the pecking order. I’m friendly, though, and I really enjoy being close to people. I’ll happily stick my nose into your pockets just to see what you’re up to. I am blind in my right eye, but I manage just fine. I’m an easy keeper and enjoy pasture as long as it’s available. In the winter I fluff up with a nice thick coat and switch over to hay. When it’s time for the farrier, I usually stand well every six weeks, though I’ve needed a little dorm in the past depending on my mood. I was broken to ride at one point in my life, but no one has tried riding me since I arrived here. I’ll need some refreshment and training before hitting the trails again, but I’ve got the foundation. I am not available for sponsorship at this moment, but I am available for adoption if anyone wants to be my forever home.
