Roane

Sanctuary
My name is Roane. I’m a 20-year-old registered Paint, and I came from auction in September of 2023. Humans say my name means “little red one” in Irish and Gaelic. Seems fitting enough, I suppose. The first thing most people notice about me is my eyes. Both of them are blue, and I’ve been told they make me look intense. Maybe that’s true. I tend to watch everything carefully before deciding how I feel about it. I’m not the type to rush up to strangers looking for attention, especially when my herd is nearby. If I don’t know you well, catching me can take a little patience. I prefer making my own decisions about who I trust. There are a few horses here I stay close to, but Mayflower is my favorite. Being around her makes the world feel quieter somehow. We understand each other. My body doesn’t move the way it used to. I have severe arthritis and need daily medication to stay comfortable. Because of that, I’m strictly a pasture pet now — and honestly, I’m perfectly okay with that. I’ve already done enough in this life. These days, I just want soft grass, familiar company, and peaceful days where nobody asks too much of me. I am not available for adoption, because the right home matters and I have found it here. Sponsorship is available though, if you’d like to help support my care while I spend my days exactly the way I prefer quietly, cautiously, and on my own terms
